Seismic Data Interpretation

Subsurface Study

Exploration, Development, Drilling & Production.

Seismic data interpretation is one of the most important steps for oil and gas exploration and development. The interpretation will not only for identifying the structural pattern of the reservoir but also to identify the stratigraphic pattern, to get a complete story of the petroleum system “reservoir; channel – sand sheet – etc., Trap; Structural or stratigraphic”.

The workflow will be as follow;
• Identifying the regional history of the study area.
• Structural styles interpretation & structural pattern identification for the study area.
• Interpretation of the faults to get the fault stocks.
• Converting the fault sticks to a fault surfaces.
• Converting the fault surfaces to fault polygons.
• Identifying the direction of the fault trends and their effects over the reservoir architecture.
• Quality check the sonic and density logs which will be used for well to seismic tie (synthetics).
• Raw checkshot (time-depth relation - TDR) quality check using velocity analysis.
• Checkshot correction and upscaling using both “Sonic checkshot & VSP checkshot”.
• Wavelet extraction sensitivity analysis to be used for well to seismic tie (synthetics).
• Well markers to seismic markers tie, synthetic seismogram generation.
• Synthetic seismogram sensitivity analysis.
• Generating a calibrated checkshot which will be used for identifying Top & Base Reservoir.
• Calibrated checkshot quality check using velocity analysis.
• Stratigraphic & Structural controlled “combined” interpretation of the Top and Base Reservoir, using the calibrated QC checkshot.
• Time to depth conversion for all surfaces using different methodologies.
• Depth conversion for the time maps using 2D single-layer models.
• Depth conversion for the time maps using 3D multi-layer models (Velocity Modeling).
• Depth conversion sensitivity analysis.
